Yhana & Sara’s Wedding at The Byre at Inchyra
There’s something lovely about the getting-ready part of a wedding day. The excitement is building, everyone is together and there’s still time to enjoy those quieter moments before the celebrations really begin.
For Yhana and Sara, the day began in two different parts of The Byre at Inchyra, which was perfect for us as a two-photographer team.
Paula joined Yhana in the Stable Yard Suite, where she was getting ready surrounded by family and friends. There was plenty of laughter and excitement as everyone prepared for the ceremony, alongside all those little details and moments that make this part of the day so enjoyable to photograph.
Meanwhile, Brian joined Sara in the cottage beside the Byre, capturing her preparations and the growing anticipation as it got closer to the ceremony.
Having two photographers meant we could simply let everything unfold naturally. Neither Yhana nor Sara had to worry about fitting photographs into a schedule — we could be with both of them at the same time, capturing the laughter, nerves and excitement as they each got ready for what was going to be a very special day.
An Outdoor Ceremony in the Walled Garden
Guests made their way down to the beautiful Walled Garden at The Byre at Inchyra accompanied by a piper, creating a wonderful Scottish start to the ceremony.
Yhana walked down first accompanied by her mum and dad, before Sara made her own entrance down the aisle with her dad.
Their celebrant shared the story of the couple before a reading and the exchange of rings. There was a lovely surprise for the guests too — the wedding rings had been hidden beneath seats, with their location kept secret until they were needed during the ceremony.
After Yhana and Sara had signed the marriage register and were officially married, everyone gathered to give them a fantastic confetti shower as the celebrations began.
The Walled Garden & Moongate Couple Portraits
The Walled Garden was the perfect place to begin the drinks reception, giving everyone time to congratulate Yhana and Sara and enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Inchyra.
While Paula accompanied the guests as they made their way back up the track towards the Byre, we kept Yhana and Sara behind for some photographs together.
We always prefer to keep this part of the day relaxed rather than turning it into a lengthy photoshoot. We made the most of the Walled Garden before visiting the distinctive Moongate and the front of Inchyra House for a little more variety.
Yhana and Sara then rejoined their guests at the Byre, where the drinks reception continued — complete with a margarita truck, which proved a particularly popular addition!
We then photographed the smaller family and group combinations before bringing everyone together for one big group photograph.
Drinks, Speeches & a Barbecue Wedding Breakfast
With the formal photographs finished, everyone could simply relax and enjoy the afternoon at The Byre at Inchyra.
This gave us another opportunity to concentrate on the candid photography we love — guests chatting, laughing, enjoying a drink and all those little interactions that happen when nobody is thinking about the camera.
Yhana and Sara briefly returned to the getting-ready room while their guests began taking their seats before making their entrance for the speeches.
There were four speeches in total, including Yhana and Sara themselves and their bridesmaids speaking together. Some of our favourite photographs weren’t necessarily of the people giving the speeches, but the laughter, emotion and reactions happening around the room.
With the speeches complete, everyone settled down for a relaxed barbecue wedding breakfast
Cake, First Dance & an Evening at The Byre
As evening arrived, it was time to get the celebrations underway.
Yhana and Sara cut their wedding cake before moving onto the dance floor for their first dance.
Once they’d had the floor to themselves, the party really began, with a DJ and live sax player bringing everyone onto the dance floor.
It was a brilliant way to finish our coverage of a day that had moved effortlessly from relaxed preparations and a beautiful Walled Garden ceremony to margaritas, a barbecue and a lively evening celebration inside the Byre.
Yhana and Sara’s wedding showed just why The Byre at Inchyra is such a wonderful Scottish wedding venue. From the Walled Garden and Moongate to the character of the Byre itself, there are so many different settings for photographs without couples having to spend long periods away from their guests.
Most importantly, Yhana and Sara could simply relax and enjoy their wedding while we concentrated on capturing the people, atmosphere and story of their day.
