Innerpeffray Chapel & Wed in a Shed

What a pleasure to be at 2 incredible locations for the wedding photography of Ellis & Blair, with the ceremony held in Innerpeffray Chapel and the reception at Wed in a Shed, Perthshire.

Innerpeffray Chapel also known as St Mary’s Chapel, stands on the east bank of the Rive Earn a little over three miles south-east of the market town of Crieff, Perthshire. This beautiful Chapel still has fragments of historic paintings visible on the walls and many original features from the 13th and 14th centuries, with ancient yew trees and a medieval altar still remaints of the first chapel.

Wed in a Shed is a fantastic venue set within ten acres of scenic Perthshire farmland, it has the rustic feel of a countryside barn, but also the flexibility of a modern event space. The venue sits just a few minutes off the A9, around 15 miles from Perth and 25 minutes from Stirling, so making travelling easily accessible for all your guests.

Although the venue does not offer overnight accommodation on-site, there is use of the farmhouse for getting ready in the morning. There are also 2 cottages at the end of the driveway that are available to book independently if you would like to stay close by on the evening before your wedding.

The nearby town of Auchterarder also has many options for staying overnight, from nearby log cabins and Airbnbs, right up to the beautiful Gleneagles Hotel just 10mins from Wed in a Shed.

Originally a farming barn, the Shed has been fully renovated and now offers a warm, welcoming environment for up to 120 day guests and 150 evening guests. Couples also have access to at least three days of exclusive use of the barn and surrounding grounds, allowing a chilled setup and lots of time to add those personal details.

Ceremony at Innerpeffray Chapel & Receiption at Wed in a Shed

Ellis & Blair loved the idea of having 2 photographers to cover their wedding as they didn’t want to miss any of the special moments from their big day, from the bridal preparations in the morning through to the kilt swinging at the evening celebrations!

As Innerpeffray Chapel & Wed in a Shed wedding photographers, we usually have to travel a fair distance to meet our couples in the morning, but Ellis’s parents still stay in the family home just up the road from us and only a mile from Innerpeffray Chapel. So Paula met Ellis and the rest of the girls there to capture all the special moments of them getting ready. While I met Blair and the boys at the Chapel to greet their guests arriving for the ceremony.

The ceremony was heartfelt with lovely readings and lots of singing along to the 4 piece acoustic group made up from close friends & family. Following the wedding ceremony there were hugs, kisses and congratulations from all of their guests then time to organise the group photos against the backdrop of the beautiful Innerpeffray Library.

The guests then departed for the reception at Wed in a Shed, just 5 miles away, while we stole a few moments away to take the first of their couple photos in the Chapel and out in the surrounding fields, basking in the glorious sunshine.

Ellis & Blair were very lucky to have a family member that owned a vintage car which they used to travel to the reception, so it was roof down and keep it under 30mph to avoid looking ‘windswept & interesting’ for the rest of the day!

E & B arrived with style at the reception in the Austin 7 car and were greeted by their guests surprising them with a confetti throw and then definitely time to break out the bubbly! The glorious sunshine allowed E & B, plus all the guests to enjoy the outdoor garden space and there was lots of friendly competition while taking part in all the lawn games.

We left the guests to enjoy more glasses of fizz and lawn games while we disappeared to take more couple photos with E&B. They decided to take a little time away from the celebrations to just enjoy being married with a quiet walk into the open countryside, surrounded by views over the sun filled Perthshire hills. And their quick tip; take a bottle of fizz with you if you go for a little ‘alone time’!

Still enough time left to rejoin their guests for more mingling before speeches, then the evening celebrations began with a serene first dance and into some of the most energetic ceilidh dancing we have seen in a long time!

Thank you so much Ellie & Blair for having us as your Wed in a Shed wedding photographers, this one will stay with us for a long time!
