Glencoe Pre-Wedding Shoot

Robyn & Matt’s Pre-Wedding Shoot at Kingshouse Hotel
There is something incredibly special about photographing couples before their wedding day, especially somewhere as breathtaking as the Scottish Highlands in winter.
Robyn and Matt chose to have their pre-wedding shoot at the Kingshouse Hotel during winter as this reflected the season in which they will get married, and it was the perfect setting for relaxed, natural photographs that really reflected who they are together. They also brought their youngest to join in the fun!
Why Winter is Magical for Pre-Wedding Photos
Winter in the Highlands brings a quiet kind of beauty. Snow-dusted mountains, soft muted colours, and dramatic skies create a timeless backdrop that feels both romantic and cinematic with Buachille Etive Mor dominating the landscape.
For Robyn and Matt, the cold air and peaceful landscape meant we could slow everything down. Wrapped in coats, walking through landscape, laughing between shots, it created moments that felt real, not staged.
Winter shoots also mean:
• Softer, more flattering natural light
• Fewer people around and more privacy
• Dramatic, unique scenery you don’t get in summer
• Cosy, intimate moments that photograph beautifully
Why Do a Pre-Wedding Shoot?
A pre-wedding shoot is about so much more than just photos.
1. You Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera
Most couples feel a bit nervous about being photographed — and that’s completely normal. A pre-wedding shoot helps you relax and get used to how we work, so on your wedding day everything feels easy and natural.
2. We Get to Know Each Other
Spending time together before the wedding helps build trust. By the time your wedding arrives, it won’t feel like a stranger turning up with a camera, it’ll feel like people you already know.
3. You Learn What Feels Natural for You
Every couple is different. Some love walking shots, some love quiet cuddly moments, some love laughter and movement. A pre-shoot helps us discover what feels most like you.
4. Beautiful Photos Without the Wedding Day Time Pressure
Your wedding day flies by. A pre-wedding shoot gives you space to create beautiful images without a timeline.
Why This Location Works So Well
The Kingshouse area offers:
• Epic mountain views in every direction
• Quiet walking routes perfect for natural moments
• Dramatic weather that adds atmosphere and storytelling
• Cosy indoor spaces if you want variety
For Robyn and Matt, it meant we could create photographs that felt adventurous, romantic, and well, just them.
