A Scottish Wedding At Cardney Steading

We were so excited to be back at Cardney Steading for the wedding photography of Alison & Andrew. They were joined by their loved ones from all over the country as well as lots of guests jetting in from across the world for their wedding celebrations at Cardney Steading, which is nestled in the beautiful countryside just outside Dunkeld, Perthshire.

As Cardney Steading wedding photographers, we find it an absolute treat to shoot there! Cardney’s spectacular setting for outdoor weddings, or the alternative rustic charm of the Old Mill for the ceremony can sometimes be a difficult choice for couples, but it was an easy decision for Alison & Andrew as it was the sunniest of Perthshire days!

A Woodland Wedding Ceremony

Paula met Alison and the bridal party in the morning to capture all the special moments and details from their getting ready preparations, while I met Andrew & the boys for a pre-ceremony shoot. I often meet the groom in the morning to shoot the boys getting ready too,  this then allows us to time sync both sets of photos in the final gallery so that the couple can see what they were both doing at the same time, but Andrew decided that he would rather wait until all of the boys were fully kilted before I took any photos!

A heartfelt ceremony unfolded in the woodland setting, and it really was a delightful mixture of emotion and humour.

Following the wedding ceremony the drinks reception was held by the lochside which offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills. We left the guests to enjoy a glass of fizz while we disappeared to take Andrew & Alison’s couple shots around the estate and the beauty of the Cardney Estate is that there are so many fabulous locations to visit within just a few minutes walk from the main venue. So we were able to go to the lochside, woodland, even the high field (with views for miles!), and still return to the drinks reception before the guests missed the couple too much.

After speeches, a hearty feast in the brand new main hall, then it was time to hit the dance floor. The band played the couples favourite song for their first dance together with a few ceilidh dances thrown in afterwards for good measure!

We even managed to get out for some golden hour photos as the sun was setting over the hills. So to close the day the fire pit is lit, marshmallows are toasted and everyone danced the night away.

Thank you Alison & Andrew for having us as your Cardney Steading wedding photographers. What an awesome day!

Scotland's Best Cardney Steadings Suppliers

It is always amazing working with some of the best wedding suppliers in Scotland. Beverly Byant brought her relaxed style, leading to Alisons & Andrew’s emotional, but fun ceremony in the fabulous woodland setting at Cardney Steadings.

It’s always an honour to be photographers alongside the team at Michelle Gillan Films, who created a truly stunning video of the day. I was also fortunate as ever to have my talented wife Paula as my second photographer—as always thank you for your help in capturing every special moment of Alison & Andrew’s Cardney Steadings wedding celebration! Lastly, thank you to all of the suppliers on the day, what a team!
