A Loch Tay Wedding at Boreland, Perthshire

Discovering Boreland Loch Tay A Highland Escape for a Wedding

If you’re searching for dramatic Scottish landscape wedding locations, Boreland Loch Tay is one of Perthshire’s hidden gems. Set above the north shore of Loch Tay near Kenmore, this estate combines wild Highland scenery, wildlife habitats, and luxury rural architecture, making it a perfect setting for a relaxed barn wedding with outstanding views!

Located within Highland Perthshire, Boreland sits across more than 100 acres of wild land overlooking Loch Tay, offering uninterrupted views of mountains, loch shoreline, and rewilded countryside. Boreland lies between Lawers and Fearnan on the north side of Loch Tay, close to Ben Lawers and surrounding protected wild land areas.

One of the unique features of Boreland Loch Tay is direct loch access to its own stretch of shoreline and beach area with slipway access just a 2min drive from the main venue, ideal to visit for couple portraits.

Whether you’re planning a small gathering or a big celebration, Boreland offers multiple venue spaces:

  • The Barn – perfect for large receptions and evening parties

  • The Workshop – ideal for drinks receptions or smaller gatherings

  • The Cowshed – great for intimate dining or evening experiences

  • Outdoor wedding field and lochside ceremony areas

This flexibility allows couples to design a wedding that feels completely personal.

Boreland works well for a huge range of guest numbers:

  • Small farmhouse weddings around 20 guests

  • Large celebrations up to around 150–200 guests depending on layout

  • Multiple event spaces to spread celebrations across the day

This makes it suitable for elopements, micro weddings, or full-scale wedding weekends.

The venue keeps its working farm heritage and rustic barn character while offering modern comforts like:

  • Cosy lounges with log burners

  • Stylish barn event spaces

  • High-quality accommodation

  • On-site team support for planning and logistics

It’s ideal if you want a relaxed, authentic Scottish feel without sacrificing comfort.

Beyond the ceremony and reception, Boreland creates a full experience with:

  • Fire pits and BBQ areas

  • Outdoor social spaces

  • Wildlife and nature surroundings

  • Activity options nearby

  • Private beach and loch access

This makes it perfect for relaxed, festival style, or adventure-inspired weddings.

Boreland Loch Tay is more than just a wedding venue, it’s a destination. With stunning scenery, flexible spaces, luxury accommodation, and a relaxed Highland atmosphere, it offers couples the chance to create a wedding that feels truly unique.

If you want a wedding that feels like a getaway for you and your guests surrounded by mountains, water, and fresh Highland air then Boreland Loch Tay is hard to beat!

Ashleigh & Kyran’s Lochside Love Story…

Nestled on the banks of the breathtaking Loch Tay, Ashleigh and Kyran chose Borelands as the perfect backdrop for their wedding day  and what a choice it was. Surrounded by dramatic Highland scenery, still waters, and cosy lochside cottages, their celebration felt intimate, relaxed, and deeply connected to nature.

Guests arrived to the crisp Scottish air and panoramic loch views, setting the tone for a day that was equal parts romantic and adventurous,  just like Ashleigh and Kyran themselves.

Their ceremony overlooked the loch, where soft natural tones and delicate florals complemented the landscape rather than competing with it. With the mountains standing quietly behind them and the water stretching endlessly ahead, Ashleigh and Kyran exchanged vows in a setting that felt almost cinematic.

Instead of traditional portraits alone, Ashleigh and Kyran embraced the adventure and headed straight onto the water.

Paddle boards in wedding attire? Absolutely.

The loch was calm, the light was soft, and the moment felt completely them. Between laughter, a few wobbles, and quiet moments drifting together on the water, these portraits captured something truly special, not just how their wedding looked, but who they are as a couple.

These were the kinds of photos that tell stories years later.

Back on shore, the celebrations continued with great food provided by the amazing Wild Rover, heartfelt speeches, and a dance floor that stayed busy all night. The Boreland setting allowed guests to relax, explore, and fully soak up the atmosphere of a Highland wedding weekend.

From sunset views across the loch to late night laughter in the cottages, every moment felt personal and meaningful.

Ashleigh and Kyran’s wedding was a perfect reminder that weddings don’t have to follow rules, they just have to reflect the people at the centre of them.

Romantic. Adventurous. Joyful. A little bit wild.
Exactly like their paddle board portraits on Loch Tay, thank you for having us along!
