Alexander House Wedding Photographer

Updated August 2026

Alexander House is one of those wedding venues that feels particularly special to us. Set in the beautiful Perthshire countryside near Auchterarder, it’s also incredibly local — so close, in fact, that we can see it from our garden.

We’ve photographed weddings at Alexander House on more than one occasion, and it’s a venue that works wonderfully for couples looking for a relaxed and more personal celebration. The countryside setting, character of the house and grounds give us plenty of opportunities for photographs, while everything is close enough that couples don’t need to disappear from their guests for long.

Our approach to wedding photography is always relaxed and natural. We’ll give a little direction when it’s helpful, particularly for family photographs and portraits, but for most of the day we simply let things happen and concentrate on capturing the people, atmosphere and moments that make each wedding different.

Amber & Jon’s Wedding at Alexander House

We were delighted to return to Alexander House for Amber and Jon’s intimate wedding, a wonderfully relaxed celebration surrounded by their closest family and friends.

Smaller weddings are always lovely to photograph. There’s often a completely different pace to the day, with couples able to spend much more time with everyone who has joined them.

The preparations gave us a chance to capture the excitement building before the ceremony, along with all those little moments that are so easily forgotten afterwards — the finishing touches, conversations between family and friends and the anticipation as everyone gets ready.

Rather than trying to manufacture moments for photographs, we prefer to let this part of the wedding unfold naturally. It gives couples a much more genuine record of how their day actually felt.

A Beautiful Outdoor Ceremony

One of the highlights of Amber and Jon’s wedding was their outdoor ceremony at Alexander House.

With the Perthshire countryside surrounding them, it was a wonderfully intimate setting in which to get married. Their ceremony included personal readings and the traditional sharing of the quaich, adding another distinctly Scottish touch to the day.

Outdoor ceremonies are particularly enjoyable for us to photograph because they allow us to include so much of the surroundings in the images. Alongside the important moments between the couple, we can capture wider photographs showing the setting as well as the expressions and reactions of family and friends.

Once Amber and Jon were officially married, everyone could relax and the celebrations really began.

Confetti, Fizz and a Relaxed Afternoon

After the ceremony there was time for confetti, fizz and plenty of congratulations as Amber and Jon enjoyed the afternoon with their guests.

This is when we can concentrate on the candid photography that forms such an important part of our wedding coverage. People are chatting, laughing and catching up, and there are constantly little moments happening around us.

We don’t want a wedding to feel like one long photoshoot. Our aim is to keep the photography organised when it needs to be, but otherwise allow our couples and their guests to simply enjoy themselves.

Once the family and group photographs were complete, Amber and Jon could get straight back to their celebration while we continued photographing everything happening around them.

Wedding Photographs Around Alexander House

Being surrounded by beautiful Perthshire countryside gives Alexander House plenty of opportunities for relaxed couple photographs.

For Amber and Jon, we took some time away from the main celebration for a walk around the grounds. We never want this part of the wedding to become overly posed or take couples away from their guests for too long. Instead, we keep things relaxed, offering a little direction when necessary while allowing the couple to enjoy some time together.

The grounds and surrounding countryside provide a completely different feel from the more formal parts of the wedding day, allowing us to create a varied collection of photographs within a relatively short period of time.

And at Alexander House there’s another rather distinctive photographic opportunity — the Highland cows.

They’re certainly not something you encounter at every wedding venue, and they add another bit of character to photographs from a wedding in the Scottish countryside.

A Wedding Day That Felt Personal

What we particularly enjoyed about Amber and Jon’s wedding was how personal and relaxed everything felt.

With a smaller celebration, there was plenty of time for them to talk to their guests and enjoy the day rather than feeling as though they were constantly moving from one scheduled part of the wedding to another.

That’s something we always try to reflect in our photography. Of course, we’ll photograph the ceremony, family groups and portraits, but many of the photographs couples value most afterwards are often the ones they weren’t aware we were taking — a laugh between friends, a hug from a parent or simply everyone enjoying being together.

Those unscripted moments are a huge part of the story of a wedding.

Intimate Weddings at Alexander House

Alexander House is particularly well suited to couples considering a smaller or more intimate wedding in Perthshire.

Not every wedding needs photography from early morning until late at night, which is why we also offer shorter coverage for intimate weddings and elopements.

Our three-hour wedding photography option can work particularly well for celebrations like this, covering the ceremony, family photographs and relaxed couple portraits without couples having to book a full-day package they don’t need.

For larger celebrations, our longer packages allow us to tell the complete story from the preparations through to the speeches, first dance and evening party.

A Local Wedding Venue We Love Photographing

There’s something particularly enjoyable about photographing a wedding so close to home.

Having worked throughout Scotland, we’re fortunate to photograph weddings in some incredible places, but it’s always lovely returning to one of our local Perthshire venues.

Our familiarity with the area also means we understand the landscape, the changing Scottish weather and how to make the most of the surroundings without turning the wedding into a lengthy photoshoot.

Amber and Jon’s celebration was exactly the kind of wedding we love — intimate, relaxed and centred around spending time with the people who mattered most to them.
