Abbi & Jordan’s Wedding at Megginch Castle — A Beautiful Perthshire Castle Celebration

Abbi and Jordan’s wedding at Megginch Castle in Perthshire was a wonderful day filled with emotion, laughter, and unforgettable moments. From morning preparations through to a lively dance floor in the evening, their celebration perfectly captured everything that makes a Scottish castle wedding so special.

One of the key advantages for their wedding day was having two photographers, allowing us to document every part of the story from different perspectives.

Morning Preparations – The Benefit of Two Photographers

Having a husband and wife photography team meant that both sides of the morning preparations could be covered simultaneously.

Paula spent the morning with Abbi, capturing the excitement as the bridal party got ready for the day ahead. These quiet moments before the ceremony are always filled with anticipation, laughter, and a few emotional moments.

One particularly lovely moment came when the bridesmaids saw Abbi in her wedding dress for the first time. Their reaction was pure joy — the kind of genuine moment that makes wedding photography so special.

Meanwhile, Brian met Jordan and the boys for a relaxed pre-ceremony photoshoot around the grounds of Megginch Castle. These photos are always a great way to capture the groom and his friends enjoying the calm before the ceremony begins.

Having two photographers ensures that both stories of the morning are captured, giving couples a complete record of their wedding day.

A Meaningful Ceremony with Handfasting

The ceremony took place in the beautiful grounds of Megginch Castle, surrounded by historic architecture and stunning gardens.

Abbi and Jordan included a traditional handfasting ceremony, a symbolic ritual where their hands were bound together to represent the joining of their lives. It added a lovely personal and Scottish touch to their wedding.

One of the most memorable moments came when their dog appeared as the ring bearer — enthusiastically jumping up during the ceremony and bringing smiles to everyone watching.

Confetti with the Castle as a Backdrop

After the ceremony, guests lined the aisle for a joyful confetti throw as Abbi and Jordan walked back up the aisle together.

With the beautiful Megginch Castle behind them, it created a spectacular moment full of colour, laughter, and celebration.

Confetti shots are always one of the most energetic parts of a wedding day, and this one was particularly special with the historic castle providing such an incredible backdrop.

Drinks Reception and Candid Moments

Following the ceremony, guests gathered for the drinks reception in the castle grounds.

These relaxed parts of the day are perfect for natural, candid photographs — friends catching up, family hugs, and plenty of laughter as everyone enjoyed the atmosphere.

Capturing these spontaneous moments helps tell the full story of the wedding day.

Couple Portraits Around the Castle Grounds

Megginch Castle offers so many beautiful locations for portraits, and Abbi and Jordan made the most of the stunning surroundings.

We explored several spots including:

  • Portraits against the impressive castle backdrop

  • Photographs in the historic courtyard stable area

  • Romantic images beneath the dramatic fallen tree in the grounds

Each location added a different atmosphere to the photographs, showing the character and beauty of the estate.

Family Group Photos in Front of the Castle

After the portraits, we returned to the drinks reception for family group photos in front of the castle.

The castle façade provides such an iconic backdrop for group photographs, making these images feel timeless and uniquely Scottish.

Speeches Full of Laughter

Guests then gathered for the wedding breakfast where the speeches brought plenty of laughter and memorable stories.

The meal itself was fantastic, provided by Gourlay Events, whose team delivered an excellent wedding breakfast enjoyed by everyone in the room.

First Dance and a Special Father–Daughter Moment

As evening arrived, Abbi and Jordan opened the dance floor with their first dance as a married couple.

Shortly afterwards came a lovely father and daughter dance, creating another emotional highlight of the evening.

Dancing the Night Away

With the dance floor officially open, guests quickly joined in and the celebration continued late into the evening.

The dance floor stayed busy as friends and family celebrated together, bringing the perfect end to a truly joyful wedding day.

A Perfect Perthshire Castle Wedding

Abbi and Jordan’s wedding at Megginch Castle had everything — beautiful surroundings, heartfelt moments, plenty of laughter, and a dance floor full of energy.

From the morning preparations to the final dance of the night, it was an absolute pleasure to capture their day and document such a wonderful celebration in one of Perthshire’s most beautiful wedding venues.
