If you’re looking for a relaxed countryside wedding venue in the heart of Perthshire, Bachilton Barn is one of Scotland’s most charming barn wedding venues. Surrounded by rolling farmland and beautiful rural scenery, it offers couples a wonderful blend of rustic character, modern facilities and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Just a short drive from Perth, Crieff and Auchterarder, Bachilton Barn has become one of Perthshire’s most popular exclusive-use wedding venues. With its converted stone buildings, elegant barn, landscaped grounds and peaceful setting, it provides everything needed for a memorable Scottish wedding.

Whether you’re planning an intimate celebration or a larger gathering with family and friends, Bachilton Barn offers the flexibility to create a wedding that feels completely personal while enjoying the convenience of having your entire day in one beautiful location.

Why Couples Choose Bachilton Barn

One of the biggest attractions of Bachilton Barn is its relaxed atmosphere. Unlike many traditional venues, couples have the freedom to enjoy their day at their own pace while still benefiting from a professional team dedicated to making everything run smoothly.

The venue combines rustic charm with stylish modern touches, creating a setting that feels elegant without ever being overly formal. Original stone buildings, timber beams and beautifully restored spaces provide character throughout the venue while remaining light, bright and welcoming.

Being an exclusive-use venue means you and your guests have the entire property to yourselves, allowing everyone to relax and celebrate together from morning preparations until the evening dancing.

Beautiful Ceremony & Reception Spaces

Bachilton Barn has been thoughtfully designed so that every part of the wedding day flows naturally from one space to the next.

The main barn provides a beautiful setting for ceremonies and receptions, with exposed beams, high ceilings and plenty of natural light creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The flexible layout allows the space to be adapted for weddings of different sizes while maintaining an intimate feel.

After the ceremony, guests can enjoy drinks in the courtyard or surrounding grounds before returning to the barn for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.

Everything is conveniently located on one site, making the day relaxed and easy for both couples and guests.

Accommodation & Countryside Setting

One of the advantages of Bachilton Barn is the on-site accommodation, allowing couples and their closest family members to stay together before and after the wedding.

The peaceful rural location provides beautiful views across the Perthshire countryside while remaining easily accessible for guests travelling from across Scotland and beyond.

The surrounding farmland, mature trees and traditional stone buildings create a truly Scottish setting that feels peaceful, private and timeless throughout the seasons.

Why We Love Photographing Weddings at Bachilton Barn

We’ve photographed many weddings at Bachilton Barn over the years and always enjoy returning to this wonderful venue.

Because we know the venue well, we’re able to make the most of the different photographic opportunities throughout the day. We know where the light falls best, the quieter locations for relaxed portraits and how to use the beautiful countryside setting in every season.

Our approach is always centred around telling the complete story of your wedding naturally. Rather than directing your day, we quietly capture genuine moments as they happen, allowing you to spend as much time as possible enjoying your family and friends.

Having two photographers also allows us to document both sides of the story, from the excitement of morning preparations through to the celebrations on the dance floor, ensuring every important moment is beautifully recorded.

Why Two Photographers Make a Difference at Bachilton Barn

One of the things couples appreciate most about choosing us is that every wedding is photographed by both of us. Having two experienced photographers allows us to tell the complete story of your day while keeping everything relaxed and unobtrusive.

The day often begins with Paula photographing the bridal preparations while I spend time with the groom and groomsmen. This means both stories are captured naturally, from the excitement of getting ready to those final moments before the ceremony.

During the ceremony itself, we’re able to photograph from different positions without getting in each other’s way. While one of us captures the bride walking down the aisle or the exchange of vows, the other is photographing the groom’s reaction, proud parents, emotional family members and the guests sharing those special moments.

After the ceremony, one of us can remain with your family and friends, capturing all the natural conversations, laughter and celebrations during the drinks reception, while the other spends a short time creating relaxed portraits of the two of you around the beautiful grounds of Bachilton Barn. This means you spend less time away from your guests while still receiving a wonderful variety of couple photographs.

Throughout the speeches, first dance and evening celebrations, having two photographers allows us to capture different perspectives at the same time, creating a richer and more complete story of your wedding day.

It’s an approach we’ve refined over many years together and one that allows us to capture not only the big moments, but also the countless little moments that often become the most treasured memories.

A Barn Wedding Celebration in Perthshire

Some weddings stay with us long after we’ve packed away our cameras, and Eilidh & Jack’s wedding at Bachilton Barn is certainly one of them. From the emotional moments of the morning preparations to a lively ceilidh that had everyone on the dance floor, their wedding was filled with laughter, happy tears and countless unforgettable moments.

As always, our day began by photographing both sides of the wedding. Paula joined Eilidh and the bridal party as they got ready, capturing the excitement as hair, make-up and final preparations came together. Surrounded by her closest family and friends, the morning was full of smiles, anticipation and those quiet moments that often become some of the most treasured memories. Photographing the wedding dress, flowers and jewellery helped tell the complete story of the day, while Dad’s first glimpse of his daughter in her wedding dress was one of those beautifully emotional moments that nobody in the room will forget.

Meanwhile, I was with Jack and the boys for the groom’s preparations. There was just one slight problem — somewhere along the way the marriage schedule had gone missing! Without it, there couldn’t be a wedding, so understandably there were a few anxious moments before it was finally found. With time against us we managed to squeeze in a few relaxed photographs of the boys before they made their way across to Bachilton Barn to welcome family and friends as guests began arriving.

The ceremony took place in the beautiful Bachilton Room, where exposed wooden beams, whitewashed stone walls and warm oak flooring create a wonderfully intimate setting for exchanging vows. As Eilidh walked down the aisle with her father, it was Jack who became emotional, and it was clear to everyone just how much this moment meant to them both.

Their ceremony perfectly reflected their personalities. Alongside heartfelt vows were moments of laughter, especially when they shared the three things they loved most about each other, raising smiles throughout the room while reminding everyone exactly why these two are so well suited.

After becoming husband and wife, Eilidh and Jack enjoyed a few quiet moments together with a glass of fizz before joining their guests outside for one of our favourite parts of any wedding day — the confetti celebration. Surrounded by cheering family and friends, they were showered with confetti before spending time catching up with everyone during the drinks reception.

While guests relaxed with another glass of bubbly, we slipped away with the newlyweds for a short portrait session around the grounds. One of the many reasons we love photographing weddings at Bachilton Barn is the variety of beautiful locations just a few minutes from the barn itself. Rustic stone buildings, peaceful countryside, rolling fields and quiet corners all provide wonderful backdrops without taking couples away from their guests for long.

Later in the day, the soft evening light created another opportunity for a few relaxed portraits. As the sun began to drop behind the Perthshire hills, the surrounding fields were bathed in beautiful golden light, creating a wonderfully romantic setting and some of our favourite photographs from the day.

As the celebrations moved into the evening, Bachilton Barn took on a completely different atmosphere. Fairy lights, candlelight and the warm character of the barn created the perfect backdrop for the speeches, cake cutting and first dance. Before long the dance floor was full as everyone threw themselves into an energetic ceilidh, bringing a fantastic day to a memorable close.

Weddings like Eilidh & Jack’s are exactly why we love what we do. Beautiful surroundings, genuine emotion, relaxed moments with family and friends, and a couple who simply enjoyed every second of their day together. Bachilton Barn is one of those venues where everything flows naturally, allowing us to capture authentic moments as they happen, and those are always the weddings that produce the most meaningful photographs.

Eilidh & Jack, thank you so much for asking us to be part of your wedding day. It was a privilege to capture so many wonderful memories, and we wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.
