A Wedding Ceremony at Bachilton Barn, Perthshire

We were back to photograph another awesome wedding at one of our favourite local venues with Eilidh & Jack at Bachilton Barn.

Located just 5 miles from Perth, Bachilton Barn is an award winning venue best loved for a rustic style with white washed stone walls and exposed wooden beams. The venue is set within 700 acres of surrounding fields & countryside and has a rich heritage spanning over 150 years, the farm being passed down through three generations of the same family. Originally renowned for potato farming, Bachilton Farm has diversified, but remains a working arable farm and stables. Bachilton Barn is a fully restored stone barn, which was originally used as cattle housing and a grain store. It has blended modern touches with a rustic feel to guarantee a relaxed and stylish setting for you and your guests.

There are many onsite accommodation options which can lodge up to 40 guests ranging from cottages to even Luxury Mongolian Yurts! The yurts are included with every wedding package, and you can just add the cottages depending on the number in your immediate wedding party.

You can use several areas across the venue, both indoors and outdoors for your ceremony, drinks reception, and basically what ever you want to do! The outside space is surrounded by open fields which creates a scenic backdrop for an outdoor wedding ceremony and the large wooden gazebo can be used as a rustic platform where you can also tie the knot!

Fun & festivities at your drinks reception can spill out on to the large open lawn next to the pond and you have exclusive use of the whole venue over the weekend.

Dining and evening celebrations are for the most part accommodated in the main Barn which boast a banqueting space for up to 200 guests with lots of space for tables, a band and built-in bar.

A Barn Wedding Celebration in Perthshire

Some weddings stay with us long after we’ve packed up our cameras and Eilidh & Jack’s wedding at Bachilton Barn was one of those days. From the quiet, emotional moments of the girls getting ready in the morning to the rocking dance floor in the evening, their celebrations were filled with love, laughter, and so much more…

The day began with Paula meeting Eilidh & the girls to capture them getting ready, surrounded by her closest family. There was lots of laughter, happy nerves and all those little in-between moments that Paula loves to capture, the details of the wedding dress, florals and jewellery all added personal touches to the story of the day. And Dad’s first look didn’t leave a dry eye in the room!

Meanwhile, Jack ‘slightly misplaced’ the marriage schedule (Without which they couldn’t get married!), so was running very late for the boys pre-ceremony shoot, but we just managed to capture a few shots of them walking to the Barn to greet their guests as they began to arrive.

The ceremony was set in the Bachilton Room which has traditional wooden beams, white-washed stone walls and warm, hard oak wooden flooring, what a perfect setting to tie the knot!

It was a deeply emotional ceremony from start to finish and as Eilidh walked down the aisle with her father, it was Jack who had a tear in his eye this time. Their vows were very personal and genuine, but did raise a chuckle amongst their guests when they revealed which top 3 things that they love about each other!.

Following the ceremony, there was just enough time for them to have a few moments alone together and enjoy a glass of fizz while we gathered the guests for the confetti throw.

Lots of hugs & kisses followed at the drinks reception then we sneaked away from the guests and left them to enjoy more glasses of bubbly while we took their couple portraits.

The grounds around Bachilton Barn are fabulous. Rolling hills, open fields, and quiet corners around the barn & stables mean we can step away for portraits without ever feeling rushed. Couples often comment on how relaxed their portrait time feels here, so no long walks, no forced poses, just space to be yourselves.

Golden hour at Bachilton Barn is something special too. As the sun dips behind the hills, the light becomes warm and cinematic, creating those effortlessly romantic images every couple hopes for in the surrounding wheat fields.

As the day transitions into evening, Bachilton Barn truly comes alive. Fairy lights twinkle, candles glow, and the barn transforms into a cosy, celebratory space perfect for speeches, first dances, and packed dance floors. Eilidh & Jack cut the cake then a short first dance was followed by a very animated ceilidh!

As wedding photographers, it’s one of those places where every part of the day flows effortlessly, allowing real moments to unfold. And honestly? Those are always the best weddings to photograph.

Thank you so much Eilidh & Jack for having us along as your Bachilton Barn wedding photographers!
